Susan is a registered audiologist, currently based out of the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre and serving all ages. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry) from Memorial University after which she obtained her Master of Science in Audiology at Dalhousie University.
Working at the Janeway has allowed Susan to explore many areas of audiology over the years, but her primary focus now rests in the field of cochlear implants for both adults and children. She is pleased to work with residents of the province as they navigate their hearing loss to explore potential options that may include implantable hearing technology. Guiding people through this journey, and supporting them afterward, has been consistently rewarding. More recently, stepping into a clinical lead role is providing increased opportunities for Susan to provide training and leadership, influence policy development and help shape program delivery.
Away from work, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids. She is excited to take on the role of NLASLPA President to engage with the talented professionals in our membership, learn from them and use this knowledge to advocate for needs of the membership and the population it serves.
